Water Futures – Asia Pacific Knowledge Exchange and Transdisciplinary Laboratory: 23-25 February 2017 Melbourne Australia

Water Futures – A First of its Kind!

An international, interdisciplinary event involving participants from Australia and the Asia Pacific, including artists, scientists, indigenous elders, economists, activists, politicians, diplomats and business people.

100 Experts:

One hundred extraordinary and carefully curated multidisciplinary experts will gather for three days to discuss, share information, plan and take action on creating a sustainable future for our most precious resource – water.

Why:

Water is a substance which is as critical to life as air, is irreplaceable, it’s what we share, mostly what we are, what we pollute and what we revere.

We’ve found it on Mars, but we are unable to provide to each other equitably here on earth.

Over the next decades, water security, massively exacerbated by climate change, will be the major driver in international conflicts, displacements, disease and death and propel the emergence of new centres of power in the world.

We need to change the way we live, the way we understand ourselves in relation to each other and our planet to ensure our survival, and to have a chance of creating a just and sustainable water future.

Share Your Knowledge:

In the knowledge that complex system problems require out of the box thinking and solutions, Water Futures does not follow a traditional conference model, but rather invites you as a participant to share your knowledge and then collaboratively identify the most critical global issues and opportunities for the creation of sustainable water futures.

Part workshop, part forum, the format incorporates an intensive transdisciplinary laboratory to generate projects that address those issues.

Collaboration:

Water Futures is a collaboration between Future Earth Australia, TippingPoint Australia, Arts House, City of Melbourne, Australian Rivers Institute, Water Future and AsiaTOPA.

 Be Immersed:

Attending Water Futures will connect you to one hundred extraordinary people who are passionately committed to making a difference! You will be immersed in a collaborative conversation, which will be tangibly realised through the legacy projects.
