UNESCO has launched: The Water Information Network System (WINS)

Launched on 31st January 2017, The Water Information Network System (WINS) is an initiative developed by UNESCO’s International Hydrological Programme (IHP).

IHP-WINS is a web-based, open source interactive database tool for water management. It is envisaged that it will provide a global reference and assist in the monitoring and implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG6) in relation to water and sanitation.

IHP-WINS was developed to enable the inclusion of a wide range of water stakeholders by facilitating the centralising of data which will encourage interdisciplinary cooperation and development of networks amongst stakeholders. It will provide an overall picture of the state of water which will be of benefit to the key decision makers and stakeholders to enable better overall decisions with respect to water governance.
