Vacancy: Intern Position – Water Future

Overview

An exciting opportunity exists for an intern to work closely with the Water Future International Secretariat for up to three (3) months.  As the project work may be undertaken online, this position is not limited by geographic boundaries.

What is Water Future?

The Sustainable Water Future Programme (Water Future) is a global water program under the international Future Earth initiative. Future Earth is supported by the International Council for Science (ICSU), the International Social Science Council (ISSC), the Belmont Forum of funding agencies, the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the United Nations University (UNU), and the World Meteorological Organization.

Human activities in the Anthropocene are accelerating the rates of change in the way water moves around the globe and in water quality. Water Future addresses this challenge by providing knowledge and support to understand the state of global water and to develop potential policy and technical solutions, and co-design improved, evidence-based innovations that support sustainable development trajectories. Water Future builds on more than a decade of coordinated international research of the Global Water Systems Project (www.gwsp.org) to study the complex global water system with its interactions between natural and human components and their feedback processes.

The Role

Working closely with the Executive Director, Water Future,  Associate Professor Anik Bhaduri, the successful intern will undertake a range of key, small projects related to the Sustainable Water Future Programme.

This position is not a paid position; however, on completion of the internship, the intern would receive a recommendation from Water Future based upon their performance.  Dependent upon individual circumstances, it is possible this project work may contribute as credit towards current studies undertaken elsewhere, with approval of both parties.

Benefits

The successful intern would have the opportunity to gain valuable experience in their field of interest, together with exposure to an excellent research environment offering networking opportunities with current researchers.
