Workshop: Water-Energy-Food (WEF) Nexus: 15 to 17 March 2017 Chennai, India
Prof. Jörg E. Drewes and Dr. Daphne Gondhalekar, as the Chair of Urban Water Systems Engineering at the Technical University of Munich, are conducting a research project on the Urban Water-Energy-Food (W-E-F) Nexus.
A WEF Nexus workshop will be held at IIT Madras, in Chennai, India from 15th to 17th March, 2017. The workshop is being organised in collaboration with the Sustainable Water Future Programme of Future Earth and the Indo-German Centre for Sustainability (IGCS) at IIT Madras, and co-funded by DAAD, the German Academic Exchange Service.
The aim of the workshop is to discuss potential case study cities in Germany and India for planned W-E-F Nexus pilot projects, to co-author a funding proposal for this, and to co-author a WEF Nexus special issue in a peer-reviewed journal. The key element of these planned pilot projects is decentralised urban water reclamation and reuse for bio-energy production and urban agriculture irrigation.
